SmartStart 3.0 Release Notes and FAQs

What SmartStart 3.0 features will I see when I update my app?

Answer: It depends!

All of the new features listed above under “All Users” and “Legacy user” are included in the 3.0 app automatically after you update the app on your handset. To try out Power User mode, go to More/Settings page and flip the switch to On.

Customers with newer SmartStart modules may see the features in the app change at two points: when you press the Login/Synchronize button in the app (More/Settings/SmartStart login) and when the firmware in your SmartStart is updated over the air. If you don’t see anything change right away, don’t worry – your system is flagged for update over the next two to three weeks. Please note that the Status page refresh function will be slower than normal until the firmware update of your system has been completed.

Customers with “connected car” systems (SmartStart module connected in RSR/RXT mode to interface such as DBALL), the additional features may require the following:

  1. Update of your SmartStart device over the air.
  2. Reflashing your interface to load 3.0-compatible firmware – please ask your dealer for details and whether your car is supported yet.
  3. Pressing the Login/Synchronize button.
